We are about half-way through the Finish 5 by Fall project so it's time for an update! I am pretty happy with most of my progress, so let's get started... The Beginning:

1. Starting in order... Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation. IT'S ALL GONE!!!! I'm super happy about this and have already picked out some new foundations to try out. I did love this foundation while I was using it, but I want to explore the world of foundation so I will not repurchase this any time soon. If you like a light-medium, natural finish foundation, you should definitely check this one out. 
2. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. With consistent use, I've made really good progress on this. While I like the thin, silicone-y feel of this primer, I don't think it plays well with others. It's a very picky primer... The jury is still out.
3. Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-on Eye Pencil. OMFG. NO. I will no longer continue to use this. It flakes all over the damn place!!! It got into my eyes. It was terrible. No. Just NO. 
4. BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick. I like this lipstick. The only reason I haven't used much is because I have been wearing "Berry Lips" for work. This formula is also really soft and the minis I have tried tend to move around in the tube. That makes me crazy. Am I the only one???
5. M.A.C.'s Mineralize Concealer. Ummmmmm... I may have been a little over ambitious with this one. It's hard to really tell how much progress I have made, but I'm using it daily. I think the only way I'd be able to finish this by Fall would be if I used it more as a foundation... Which I might try just for shits and giggles...

This is what I mean when I say the formula is soft and the lipstick moves around in the tube. When I apply it, it hits the side of the tube and mushes, for lack of a better word.

So... I am okay with having one item in this project be a complete fail. The Hourglass primer should be done fairly soon. So it's really just down to the lipstick and the concealer. If I don't end up finishing them, at least I tried!!!! Xoxoxo.

Happy Monday!!! Today I want to talk to you all about one of my favorite products EVER. I had planned on doing a post about this product, and thennnnn... Influenster added me to the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs VirtualVox (similar to a voxbox except they don't send a box filled with goodies and all activities are completed virtually- hence the name). And I just thought "perfect timing". So, random coincidence aside... I love these products. And I'm not getting paid to say that. 

I have been using the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs for a couple years now (thanks to my bestie, who introduced me to this awesomeness-in-a-can) and the best thing I can say about it is... It's so simple. It's literally, makeup for your legs and it will help camouflage any imperfections! There are two ways/times when I use this:

1. When I have a spray tan. Sounds redundant? It's not. For those who have spray tanned before, you may know... For whatever reason, your legs will sometimes not get as dark as the rest of you (I don't know why, but this happens to me almost every time). So before going out for the night, I will spray my legs with the Tan or Medium shade so that I don't have an ombré skin effect gong on. This stuff will also help even out the look of a spray tan if you look a little patchy. (Side note- I have also used this on my arms and it works well for that too).
2. When I have not spray tanned and want to wear shorts. Mind you, my natural skintone is translucent (no joke). So that is when I will use the Light shade. It gives me just enough color so that I don't look like I just arose from the coffin.

I will admit, the first time I saw this stuff I was terrified. I was worried I would look like an oompa loompa mixed with a zebra. So, my bestie went first and showed me what to do. Shake the can. Spray your legs (from upper thigh to ankle) so that you have 6-8 spots, and then rub it in until blended! (Remember to do your feet too if you will be wearing sandals or flip-flops). That simple. Do one leg at a time, and wash your hands after each leg. Give it a few minutes to dry/set in. Voilà! 
This product claims to be water and transfer resistant, and I will completely agree with that. But it's not waterproof, so if you are getting in the water... Don't bother with this stuff. If you will be staying dry, it will last and last and last. Also, I have worn white shorts with this on my legs. Yes I dared. And while it did rub off a little on the shorts, it also washed out easily in the laundry and nothing was destroyed. One last thing, this does have a sparkle to it that will be noticeable if you are out in the sun. It was originally created to mimic panty-hose, and it does just that. Personally, I like to sparkle (not Edward Cullen sparkle, but a little glitter never hurt anyone).

Product Spotlight: Adovia Dead Sea Salt Scrub

Happy Saturday Everyone!!! As you are reading this I am driving the three hours to SoFlo to drop my son off with my dad for the week. He is super excited. I'm sick of driving... (This is my third trip down in the last week. Long story. Life happens.) 
Today I am going to review a new body scrub I tried. If you follow me on IG, you may know that I am on the hunt for the perfect body scrub. The way I like to use a body scrub is before I shave so that my legs are well exfoliated and I get a closer/better shave. Unfortunately many of the scrubs I've tried have oils in them for a moisturizing effect... Which is nice if you are scrubbing just to scrub, but not if you plan on shaving afterwards. The oils tend to gunk up the razor. 
Enter Adovia Dead Sea Salt Scrub in Ocean Breeze...
I was excited to try out another scrub to see if I had found my "holy grail" yet... But as I opened the package, I realized that this was yet another "oily" scrub that would not work the way I prefer. I still tested it out to see how it compared to others I've used and this is what I found: Pros:

• Packaging. This sucker was sealed EXTREMELY well. Which is good because there is an oily, liquidy layer that tends to rise to the top. Nothing leaked out at all. In fact, I had a hard time breaking the plastic seal off to use the scrub!!!
• Grittiness. Because this is a salt scrub, there is a decent amount of grit for exfoliation, which I like. The grittier, the better... In my opinion. But it also dissolves easily as you use it. 
• No shower residue. While this scrub does leave an oily residue on the skin, it does not leave an oily residue on my shower flower. BONUS POINTS for that!!! 
• Made in Israel. I mean, obviously... It is a DEAD SEA SALT SCRUB. Regardless, it's a "pro" for me.
• Accessibility. You don't even have to leave your house to get your hands on this... Just order from Amazon! (Check it out here!)

Cons:

• The scent. I am not a fan of the fragrance used in this scrub. There is a hint of "old lady" that hangs around while you use it. I disagree with the label "Ocean Breeze".
• The oily skin effect. Now this is a con for me, personally. Others may love the fact that this is a moisturizing exfoliator. Especially if you suffer from extremely dry skin and need that added layer of hydration for your skin. It's just not for me. At least not in the shower.
• Price. When I ordered this, it was $19.00. Right now, however, you can order it from Amazon for $15.95. That's still a pretty pricey scrub for something that isn't a household name...
• Accessibility. You can't find this in stores, you have to order it online. Which means you can't test it out first.

Overall, I was glad to test this product out. It's a good scrub. And while it didn't quite fit the need I have for a shower exfoliator, I will still be able to use and enjoy this scrub. It will work better for me as a hand scrub, and I'll use it anytime I give myself (or anyone else) a manicure. If you enjoy body scrubs that exfoliate well AND leave your skin feeling nice and hydrated, this one is worth a shot!

Guess what today is!?!?!?! The last day of school for the kiddos!!! Guess what else today is!?!?!?! It's my BIRTHDAY! Yep, it's the 11th Anniversary of my 21st Birthday. ;-) But guess what ELSE today is!?!?!?! It's Empties Day!!!!!! Check 'em out below:

• Product(s) I will miss the most: I really liked the Sephora Nano Lip Liner in Native Nude (#121). But it looks like they reformulated/repackaged these lip liners (and increased the price from $5 to $6) and they no longer carry this shade. Also, the Color Club Nail Polish in London Calling (#131). This shade was a Birchbox exclusive I received the first time I was subscribed to them about two years ago. It's an amazing neon green. But you can only purchase it from the Birchbox shop in a four pack with three other colors, and I'm just not interested.
• Product(s) I cannot live/survive/breathe without and have already repurchased: The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel (#150). O.M.G. This is one of the MOST refreshingly scented body washes I have ever, I mean EVER, used. I love it. It literally wakes me up in the morning. I have the larger bottle waiting to be used...
• Product(s) that will eventually be repurchased: Honestly, nothing in this batch sticks out to me. Possibly Benefit's Porefessional (#146)... IF I ever used up all 832 other primer samples I have. Also, the Bath and Body Works Wallflowers (#128-130). Though they really aren't impressing me and I might have to switch to something else once I use up what I have. Any suggestions???
• Sample(s) that made me want the full size: The Perfectly Posh BFF Best Face Forever Exfoliating Fash Wash, MFEO Mint For Each Other Body Scrub, and The Stripper Detox Body Mud (#151). These samples seriously piqued my interest. The Mint Scrub had such a good scent and was just the right amount of gritty for me. The Stripper Mask, ohhhhh that mask... It tingles. And we aren't talking "GlamGlow" tingle... It's a legit burning sensation. So if you have sensitive skin, skip this, it's not for you. But if you can handle the burn, try this stuff out. My skin felt squeaky clean after using it and I definitely think it helped pull some impurities to the surface. And the Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches (#137). I really enjoyed these. I don't know that they made a difference in brightening my under eye area, but they definitely soothed, softened, moisturized, and refreshed. I really enjoyed these.
• Product(s) that disappointed me the most: The L'Occitane Amande Supple Skin Oil (#125). Yup, I said it. I do not like L'Occitane. But not because their products aren't good. But because I CANNOT STAND THE WAY THEY SMELL. ErrrrMaaaaGerrrrrd. It's so bad. I can't do it. And the worst part is, everything, I mean EVERYTHING else about this oil was amazing. It absorbed so well into the skin. It didn't leave a greasy residue. It made my skin feel amazingly soft. It was soooooo good. Except I smelled like the granny who still perms her hair, has a house full of moth balls, and always tries to feed you stale cookies. IJS. So disappointing. Also, Essie's Romper Room (#139) One of the worst formulations of Essie polish I have tried. But a great color. Too bad.
• Product you couldn't pay me to (re)purchase. EVER.: Cotton Balls (#147). Any cotton ball. The fuzz they leave behind makes me angry. Seriously. It's so infuriating when trying to polish your nails and you constantly have to pull little "fuzzies" out of the polish. No More. I refuse.

Yes, you read that correctly... YSL! Influenster recently sent me their "most iconic VoxBox yet", which contained a full size Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara. (Do I need to tell you how excited I was?!?!?!)

Let's start with the basics... This mascara comes in six shades (mine is High Intensity Black) including two different shades of blue, violet, and burgundy. It retails for $32 and you can purchase it here, here or here (or anywhere that sells YSL beauty products).  The claims (straight from YSL's website)...: NEW improved formula does not dry out. So how did it work and how did I like it??? OMG. It was LOVE at first use!!!  I cannot attest to wether or not the formula doesn't dry out, since I've only been using it a couple weeks... But the claim "dramatic lashes in a single stroke", ummmmmm... YES. Though I still did two coats, I didn't need to. The brush seems to grip even the tiniest lashes and coats them well. And the length that it gives is just unreal. See for yourself:

Personally, I have a problem with mascara transferring under my eyes. EVERY single mascara I have ever tried has done this. So I can't detract from this one for doing the same. However, if I top it with one coat of waterproof mascara, that helps. Also, your lashes don't feel hard and crispy once they dry.  The packaging is beautiful and reminds you that you are using a "luxury mascara". Oh! And the scent! This mascara has a really nice scent to it. Not that you can smell it once it's on your lashes... Or that it's even important... But when you open the tube to apply it, there's a really pleasant scent.  There isn't too much more I can say about this mascara. I think the picture above speaks for itself... It's IpsyTime!!! March Glambag... #FloralFantasy

As always, I was really excited to get my Ipsy bag this month... And then I opened it and was just kinda... Meh...

I had seen a sneak peek on IG and knew everyone was getting a NYX Butter Lipstick. I was not excited for this. Mainly because NYX is inside Ipsy a lot. And also, because I had no interest in trying this formula. Then I see the shade I received and rolled my eyes, really Ipsy?!?! But It actually looks better on the lips, than in the tube. The color was pretty opaque and smooth going on. There is also no noticeable scent. That being said, I'm still just not a fan (of this product- not the brand. I love NYX in general). I don't care to much for the formula which feels slightly more greasy/slippery than a Revlon Lip Butter. I also felt like this product was pretty staining, for a simple lipstick. I, for one, am not into lip stains... 
Next was the Vintage by Jessica Liebeskind... I'm sorry, Jessica who??? So this must be a newer brand. That's cool. I like trying new things. But at first glance, I assumed this was an eyeshadow. Nope. Cheek Highlighter. Ummm, huh??? It's a pinky-mauve sort of shade. It looks much lighter on her website than it does in person. I gotta be honest, I didn't even open this. I'm just going to pass it on to a friend. It's not for me.
Then came the Boo-Boo Cover-up. Meh. I need to keep trying this. It claims to "heal" while it conceals... Mmmmmm... Gimmicky??? From what I can tell so far, it's a pretty light coverage.
Dr. Brandt Pores No More Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion. Apparently this was a 2013 Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner. It claims to "help delay the natural signs of aging by maintaining the longevity and activity of stem cells in the skin". I don't like how it smells. But I shall try to use it anyway. We shall see...
Lastly, the Pūr~lisse Pūr-delicate Gentle Soy Milk Cleanser and Makeup Remover. Now this, I LIKE!!! I never trust a cleanser to remove makeup on it's own, however, since this product claimed to be able to do that... I gave it a shot. And I have to say, it worked! It took off all my makeup and eye makeup and about 90% of my mascara (I washed a second time to remove the last vestiges on my lashes). This was a #win.
Overall, this wasn't one of my favorite bags... But for $10/month I still think it's worth it to try out products you would never try on your own or have never heard of. Trash Talk!!! September Empties

Yes, yes... It's that time of month again. And for once I'm (relatively) on time!!! I didn't have a ton of empties this month... However, there were eight products I thought warranted a mention, good and bad.

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle. So this is a product I originally loved, and grew to dislike. Once upon a time, I received a sample size of this in a Birchbox, and I fell in love... with the scent. OMG, sosososososo good. When this is in your hair, you smell like a bakery treat. So I bought the full size. Only to realize that this does absolutely nothing to help my hair (It claims to smooth, moisturize, detangle, protect from heat and UV-rays, minimize frizz, safeguard color, and add shine. Uh, no.). I ended up using this on my boyfriend's daughter as a detangler since she also LOVED the scent. If it wasn't $22 I'd buy it again just for her. But that's a weeee bit pricey for a kid's detangler.

L'oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara. Another love/hate product for me- due to my own error. Honestly, this would've been a favorite mascara... Butttt I accidentally didn't buy the waterproof version (a necessity for my lashes) and so by the end of the day, this mascara was everywhere but on my lashes. The best part about it was the brush. I love the lil' "butterfly" wing to it, it's great at separating my outer lashes which tend to clump together. All in all, I'd try this again... As long as it's WATERPROOF.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips. What's great about these is that they can be found everywhere (Walgreens, CVS, Target, Walmart, Ulta...Etc.) and they have a great selection with trendy/animal prints, geometric patterns, and french manicures. And for the price they aren't too bad. But I have two issues with these. 1. They don't last. For me, they chipped very easily and in some instances peeled right off. 2. You can't use a few at a time for accent nails. I mean you can, but then you'd be wasting the rest of them, because once you open the sealed package that they come in they "dry out" and lose their "stick". No bueno. I'll stick with my Jamberry Nail Wraps (review here). They are more expensive, but  are worth EVERY PENNY.

Bare Minerals Deep Cleansing Foam. This claims to be a "non-drying" cleanser, but after each use my face always felt a little toooo tight. Considering I have dry skin to begin with, it just didn't work for me. That being said, this stuffed foamed up like a champ. You only need a tiny bit. It'll last you forever. If you like foamy cleansers and don't have dry skin, check this one out.

Blue Diamond Blueberry Almonds. Yummmm... Go find these. Try them. And then let me know how much you love them too (In fact, try the coconut flavor too, while you're at it. Trust me, you WON'T regret it.).

Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Invisible Skin Foundation. This is the second sample I've gotten (and used up) from Sephora. I love this foundation. But it carries a hefty price tag... Cough$61CoughCough. It looks so natural and I know it'll be worth the money, but I need to use up what I already have first... Or at least I need to try to use up what I have first. ;-) #makeupjunkieproblems #thestruggleisreal

MAC Viva Glam V

MAC Viva Glam V. Love this lipstick. Great everyday neutral pink shade. Every girl should own this one and it should be a staple in their makeup routine.

Skyn Iceland Fresh Start Mask. This was an interesting mask. I received it in an Ipsy bag a while back and finally got around to using it. It's a two step mask. Step one, you put the clay in an even layer all over your face. Step two, you place the activating gel on top of the mud and gently massage in circular motions. When the two products combine they start to effervesce and you get a warm, tingly sensation. You leave it on for 10 minutes, rinse, and voilà! Fresh, smooth skin. I truly enjoyed this mask. My one suggestion is to do this before showering so that you can rinse it off easier.

Product Spotlight: Fresh Sugar Lip Polish

Happy Monday, everyone!!! It's a new week and today I've got a new product to talk about... Well new to me, that is. It's the Sugar Lip Polish by fresh. 
Here's the thing... I got a deluxe sample of this and two other fresh items for free when I placed a Sephora order online. I figured why not give it a shot, I LOVEEEE a good lip scrub. If you have read any of my past blog posts, you may have noticed I talk about a particular homemade recipe for one repeatedly. It is a Mint Cacao Scrub and it's THE perfect, ultimate, holy grail lip scrub to which all other lip scrubs are compared... Unfortunately for this particular one. 
I broke this little guy open about a week and half ago- yup, I'm bringing you a review THAT quickly- when I ran out of the one I had been using. I like to try new  products out and I have been using the DIY recipe for almost 8 months now. Here's the "claims" straight from the source, fresh:

My initial reaction to the fresh polish was "this is not gritty enough". I get that this is supposed to be "gentle", but I didn't feel it doing anything. At all. How does this exfoliate??? My second thought was "why is it so oily???". I mean SUPER greasy feeling. Not a smoother, moisturized, hydrated feeling. More like a my-lips-are-covered-in-slimy-oil-feeling. Typically, I put on a lip scrub. Rub it in for about 30 seconds and then rinse it off. With this, I rubbed for about a minute and then spent another minute washing the grease off my chin. Ick. Lastly, I must mention the scent... Not good. It literally. Just. Smells. bad. Considering that the lips are directly below the nose, you'd think cosmetic companies would try to make all their lip products nasally appealing... or at the very least, UNSCENTED. Despite all these red flags and being the product junkie that I am, I continued to use the scrub over the next couple days...
And that's when I noticed TWO big problems. One, my lips were dry, chapped, and flaky. Unlike anything I have ever seen before. I was so uncomfortable and no amount of lip balm was curing my shedding, peeling, bleeding(!!!) lips (I even doubled up on my water intake to make sure I wasn't dehydrated, I was not). Now I have always liked to use a lip scrub because I love wearing lipstick which tends to dry out the lips. So I have occasionally had teeny-tiny flakes that I use my scrub to combat, but this... This was not teeny-tiny, these flakes were pea-sized. It was terrible. The second problem I had was a breakout, on my chin. Basically when I would try to wash this oily mess of my lips, it would seep down onto my chin. And apparently my chin was none too thrilled about this. It responded with those mountainous pimples that sit under the skin and do nothing but cause you pain. 
Needless to say, this scrub went straight into the trash. And a brand new homemade Mint Cacao scrub (recipe here) is sitting on my bathroom counter as we speak. I used it last night and already my lips are feeling better. I honestly have never had such a bad reaction to a product before. Has anything like this every happened to you? Is Ipsy Worth it???

Short answer: YES. 

Longer answer. My favorite day of the month is the day I open my mailbox and see the famous pink bubble mailer in it. It just makes me happy. 

Ipsy is a beauty subscription service (formally known as MyGlam) that you sign up for. It costs $10 a month and you receive 5 sample, trial, or full sized products plus a cute lil' cosmetic bag. Every month is different. When you initially sign up, you take a beauty survey so that they can gear the products you receive to your specific likes/dislikes (no worries though if your preferences change, you can retake the short quiz anytime to update it). This isn't a guarantee but it helps. There is a wait list once you've signed up, however, I've been told if you "share" that you've signed up on FB it significantly decrease the amount of time you are on said wait list. 

Now I'm not gonna lie... I have not loved the products I've received EVERY single month. It can be hit or miss. But I'd say I'm extremely happy 90% of the time. Even when I don't love the items I've been sent, the value is still worth more than the $10 I've shelled out. Also, it's a great way to learn about or try brands and products I wouldn't normally choose for myself. 

Another cool feature Ipsy has going for it is the IpsyPoints system. You can earn points a couple different ways. One, sharing on FB (gives you 5-10 points). Two, reviewing your glambag every month (gives you 10 points for each item you review). Three, when a friend uses your referral link to also sign up for Ipsy (250 points every time). Once you've reached 1000 points you can then redeem for a number of different items. I just redeemed mine for the first time. I chose a cheek/lip stain and mineral bronzer from bellapierre cosmetics that I should receive next month (I am unsure if these items are full sized or not- but since I am going to start a monthly Ipsy blogpost, I'll let you know as soon as I receive them).

I'm extremely happy with this month's products. The bag is adorable. I love getting nail polish. I'm excited to try the deep conditioner (I've never heard of the brand, but it smells great). I've always wanted to try Crown Brush brushes and this gives me TWO. I love NYX, love their eyeshadows and this is a great neutral shade. The lipgloss is a decent size and color, I just don't love lipgloss. I'll pass this one along... But 4/5 is a solid "A" for me.
